Come and serve with us

Our next pressing need is for a full-time resident president. Until now we have been a faculty run school, with Dr. Luke Lu (WTS, PhD), our honorary president, living in the US. The work of promotion and organizing was done by Dr. McCafferty from 1997 until 2008. Dr. Yates took over as acting Academic Dean in 2008 and shares promotion duties with fellow faculty member Dr. Toon Yeo. But the need for promotion is now acute, and this would best be done by a full time president who could also teach a small load of classes. Our ideal candidate would have a humble Christian Spirit, be sound in theology and in faith, be a good teacher and mentor, have pastoral experience, be willing to sacrifice for the good of the school, be fluent in Chinese, and have his Ph.D. in a related field. But the Lord knows who He will call. If you are called to Chinese theological education, are completely committed to inerrancy and to the Westminster Confession, and have a heart for the Chinese church, maybe you should consider joining us! Unfortunately we don’t have the finances to fill these positions, but we will help any qualified candidate raise mission funds and do what we can. Hudson Taylor often said, “The Lord's work done in the Lord's way will not lack the Lord's provision.”

Our full time graduate faculty is growing with Tim Yates (WTS D.Min) Biblical Counseling, Practical Theology and occasional NT/OT (part-time since 1998, Dean of Biblical Counseling since 2002, full time Academic Dean and Dean of Distance Learning since 2008), Toon Yeo (DMin RTS, ThM Gordon Conwell) in New Testament & Practical Theology (full time since 2009). and Moses Wong Old Testament (PhD WTS full time since 2013). Our own MDiv graduate Chee MohHerng (ThM Southern Baptist Theological Seminary 2015) Systematic Theology, New Testament (full time after January 2017).  Local pastors and missionaries teach classes as well. We still need additional full time faculty in Church History and New Testament who can teach in Mandarin and can raise ¾ of their own support.

We also need teachers for short term intensive two week two credit courses for our BTh and MA/MDiv level students (28 hours of class time). We look either for Reformed seminary teachers or experienced pastors with a gift for teaching courses in Bible, theology, practical theology or biblical counseling, teachers preferably with ThM, DMin or PhD credentials who can come in early September, January or the end of May-early June.

Dr Yates also has a vision for starting a new M.A. in Marketplace Ministry, but we currently need another faculty member with this kind of specialization to assist with developing this new major or visiting mini-class teachers with experience in marketplace ministry related course topics and teaching.

Under Dr. Toon Yeo’s leadership, and with the help of some local churches, three students took an intensive church planting class hosted by Redeemer City to City in the summer of 2012. When two of those students graduated in June 2013, they both started church planting work in that summer.  Two other graduates started churches in 2015. We also seek to renew existing churches with a church planting vision. If you would like to assist in church planting work among the Chinese, we want to talk to you.
Currently the Reformed Press needs additional translation help, final proofing editors, and partnership commitments to help finance these valuable book translation & publishing projects, since they usually are not financially profitable projects.
The CRTS board continues to desire a dormitory near our school, but the cost are prohibitive. Even an additional needed parking space near the school would cost about $60,000 US. Pray that the Lord would give us wisdom.
