Minimize

Dear mission supporter, Greetings in the name of our Lord.

Thank you for your ten years of support. Indeed, we recalled that Toon resigned from Grace Christian Church, where he had been ministered for 17-18 years, on September 15, 2009. Then they relocated at Taipei for his teaching ministry at China Reformed Theological Seminary (CRTS). I believe many things have changed since these ten years. When I ponder on these days, I want to say that God’s grace is overflowing. Also, we are thankful for having you to support our mission faithfully in your prayers and your financial supports. May God remember your heart for His mission.

Summer Events

Our church (Grace BanQiao) has moved to its new location at BanQiao-Xinpu station. Then, we also moved to our new house very close to the church. Two moving projects have increased our schedule to be much busier. Besides that Toon had to finish grading papers, and Pam’s schedule was even busier. She had to wrap up all counseling cases due to her resignation from counseling center at FPC, and also she had to grade 40 students’ papers.

After that we could fly to the States and could have a break. Is it true? In this summer, our first station was Boston, yet we stopped at Beijing for two days for a short tour at this beautiful city. Then we spent about two weeks at Boston; while visiting our kids, we took a family trip to Maine. We really enjoyed the beauty of God’s masterpiece. After Maine’s trip, Toon and Pam got busy for the preparation of their lectures at Grace Christian Church (Northern Virginia); Toon was speaking on the topic of “Church and Mission”, and Pam was on “Church and Conflicts”. Just in time, the church was celebrating its 20th Anniversary, and it’s our honor to be invited to speak on this very meaningful day. The meeting drew many old friends and co-workers who served and fought for the Lord building this church. Praise the Lord that He brought Rev. Paul Wang to lead this church for the past era. Besides that, we also visited Chinese Christian Church of VA (CCCVA), which was the first church we served after our seminary training; praise the Lord for their building expansion project. We shared our mission work, including Banqiao church planning project, at Grace Church and CCCVA. We really wished that we could have more opportunities to visit more supporting churches during our trip. However, our time was too short. Hopefully, we can visit you next time.

Returning to Taiwan (New Taipei City)

After spending one month in Boston and DC areas, we returned to Taiwan and continued our ministry. Later, Toon received a phone call from his brother about his mother’s sickness. His mother had a minor stroke. So Toon flew to Malaysia for visiting his mother. Praise the Lord for His protection and mercy. Her recovery was so rapid; God lessen our burden and worries so we can serve Him without any worries. In this spring, Pam quit her ministry as the supervisor at Friendship Presbyterian Church (FPC) counseling center and the online teaching position at Liberty University. She accepted a full-time teaching position at China Evangelical Seminary, and she was very busy for the preparation of her three courses. Nevertheless, she will continue her ministry at Banqiao, including doing counseling, leading small group and children Sunday School.

Toon will gradually cut down his seminary teaching load, and he will spend more time at the church planting project at Banqiao city. CRTS is quite stable now, yet the church planting is in a very crucial stage; the church is moving toward forming a mission church now, and it needs more training classes such as membership, leadership, and outreaching. So the church needs Toon to put more effort and time into it.

Children Update

Zephaniah - he is temporary staying with us. He is taking a computer coding course now; it’s an online boot-camp course, and the plan is that we could be his oversight. We hope that his stay at Taiwan will serve a training purpose for his graduate study in years to come. Certainly, we hope his faith will be rebuilt.

Anna - she works at Boston in a design company. She enjoys her job very much and feels learning a lot at this job. Months ago, she fell on the way to her office, and she had a little concussion. We reminded her to be more careful.

Praisye - she just entered her third year in college, and it will also be her last year. Now she is planning her life after her graduation. She told us that she would want to go to seminary to become a full-time youth minister, and this indeed is a comforting news for us. However, Toon hopes that she can work or come back to Taiwan to serve in the church for a year in order to test and confirm her calling.

The following are our prayer requests: 1. For church planting - it enters the second stage, and Toon needs to spend more hours in this church planting project in discipleship training, leadership training, and evangelistic out reaching events. 2. Pam’s counseling ministry - she is training two sisters to be her helpers. Hopefully, the training will reduce Pam’s load. 3. Toon and Pam’s time management - they are very busy. Please pray that God gives them wisdom to balance their time in church, at workplace, and at home. 4. Children - pray that they will walk with the Lord. Blessings, Toon and Pam
